Association Rules & Regulations

To maintain the beauty, safety, and harmony of North Gray Dunes, we’ve established the following rules and regulations. Your cooperation helps preserve the natural environment and ensures a peaceful community for all residents, renters, and guests.

  • Respect Property Boundaries: Be mindful of private property lines and shared spaces.

Noise Policy: Quiet hours are from 10 PM to 7 AM. Please keep noise levels reasonable at all times.

Wildlife Protection: Do not feed or disturb wildlife. Maintain a safe distance to protect both animals and people.

Environmental Care: Avoid activities that may harm natural habitats, including dune erosion and vegetation damage.

  • Dumpster Rules

We have the privilege of having dumpsters for our garbage. If that privilege is lost everyone will be on their own for garbage disposal. This would mean increased road traffic by garbage trucks and the inconvenience of having to put out individual garbage bins.

A few people can ruin it for all of us. With this in mind, please be a good neighbor. Respect the rules, and report anyone you see abusing the rules to one of the board members.

In addition, we have installed cameras that will in real time identify those breaking the rules. Violators will be brought before the board to explain their actions, and may loose the privilege of using the dumpster. Anyone that damages the cameras will be subject to the same action.

PLEASE DON’T ABUSE THE PRIVILEGE OF HAVING DUMPSTERS!

    The rules are simple:

    1. All garbage must be in closed and tied bags, no loose items of garbage

    2. Regular store boxes must be broken down and flattened to minimize the space they occupy

    3. No moving boxes or construction materials are to be put into the dumpster

    4. No toxic or flammable items are allowed in the dumpsters (paint, oil, gasoline, etc)

    5. No furniture or household items are allowed in the dumpster including outdoor patio materials, beach umbrellas, beach toys, lamps, benches etc. If you think it probably shouldn’t go in the dumpster, it shouldn’t.

    6. Close the lids securely to prevent trash from blowing out or animals from getting into the dumpsters. If the front area of the dumpster is full, please use the back so the lids will close completely.

We have provided hand sanitizer for your convenience. Please do your part to keep the dumpster area clean and free of trash. Anyone seen throwing trash over the fence without properly putting it into the dumpster will be called before the board members and may loose dumpster privileges or be fined. There is no one but your neighbor to pick this trash up.

Below are options for disposal of items not allowed in the dumpsters, or to recycle if you would like to help keep the volume of trash down and be environmentally friendly:

  • 1. No centerfire rifles are to be used during the firearms deer hunting season. North Grey Dunes Association (NGDA) adopts all the State of Michigan shotgun only rules for the southern counties of the state.

In any hunting season, only association land owners and their first-degree relatives are allowed to hunt and only on their own property. If a second-degree relative is hunting on your property, the land owner must be present. Association members must have written permission from any other association land owner to hunt on property other than their own.

    • First-Degree Relative is defined as a person’s parent, sibling or child.

    • Second-Degree Relative is defined as a person’s aunt, uncle grandparent, niece, nephew or half-sibling.

    2. There is no hunting or discharging of firearms, bows or crossbows on or within the association road right of ways to include private drives and spurs off Pepper’s Trail (30 feet from the center of the road).

    3. It is unlawful to discharge a firearm, bow or crossbow within 150 yards (450 feet) of an occupied building, house, cabin or any barn or other building that is used for farming purposes without written permission from the land owner. This is the current state law. It is conceivable that despite having landowner permission to hunt, you may be too close to neighboring cottages or outbuildings to do so safely or to be compliant with the current state law.

    4. All other state hunting rules and regulations apply to association members and their families while hunting within NGDA.

  • Open fires and fireworks are strictly prohibited within North Gray Dunes.

  • Parking Regulations
Respect our parking rules to maintain clear, safe access for all.

No parking on roads or easements—these areas must remain clear for emergency and maintenance vehicles. Parking is only permitted on the private property of those you are visiting. Do not park in turn-around circles as these need to be clear for emergency vehicles. Violators will have their cars towed at their expense.

    • Responsibility: All members, renters, and guests are expected to adhere to these rules.

    • Reporting Issues: Contact a board member or the appropriate emergency contact for concerns.

    • Consequences: Violations may result in fines or other actions as determined by the Board of Directors.
